BRIAN MWENDA PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO CHARGES OF PRETENDING TO BE A LAWYER OF THE HIGH COURT

‘Fake lawyer’ Brian Mwenda Njagi denied uttering a false document, making a false document, as well as a practicing certificate

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina

His defense lawyers, led by John Khaminwa and Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wamboi had earlier objected to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) appearing in court, saying the entity cannot be a victim in the suit.

“LSK cannot be part an parcel of this proceedings…they can only hire but not to be on record,” court was told

Njagi was locked  by DCI detectives yesterday October 18 after being outed as a quack advocate.

President of Law Society of Kenya Erick Theuri had vowed that the lawyers’ body will ensure Njagi is prosecuted to the full extent of the law, adding that the case will serve as an example to those who want to go down the same path in the future.

“Brian Mwenda Njagi is now at DCI. We are going to ensure that he faces the full force of the Law. The evidence gathered so far points to several cases of forgery & identity theft,” wrote Theuri.

“Further inquiries are ongoing. We are working closely with the DCI team to conduct thorough & extensive investigations. This case will be a deterrent for future masqueraders.”

Prior to Njagi’s arrest, his lawyer Danstan Omari had written to the DCI requesting to be allowed to present him for questioning on Wednesday.

He been remanded in custody pending ruling on the participation of LSK as representation of victims.
