A WITNESS TELL COURT THAT AN ABANDONED CHILD WAS INDEED ADMITTED AT MAMA LUCY HOSPITAL IN MAY 2020

A baby boy who was found abandoned in Donholmin Nairobi was admitted at mama lucy hospital in May 2020 , the court heard today.
A nurse from the institution Beatrice Chellanga told the trial magistrate Esther Kimori that indeed a good samritan brought the infant who was received by medical social workers and subsequently admitted into paedriatic ward where he received treatment for a period of five months..
Upon discharge on 11th November 2020, the director children services Embakasi sub county recommended that the boy be taken to Imani Children’s Home for up keep.
However yhe witness during cross examination by the defense lawyer could not explain whether indeed the child was taken to the children’s home after discharge , she said she only saw the discharge form but could remember who was handed the infant.
She told the court that that was not the first time abandoned children released to various childrens’ homes
The witness was giving evidence in a case where two former employees of Mama Lucy Hospital are , Selina Awour and Fred Makara are charged with the offense of child trafficking.
