DPP withdraws terrorism charges against Mike Sonko and two others

Kahawa court has set free mike sonko and two other free after the DPP withdrew terrorism charges against the them
The three were discharged  by Kahawa law court principal magistrate Daniel Kiage .
Sonko and had been charged with  Benjamin Onyango Odhiambo and Clifford Ochieng Ouko
 The former Nairobi governor told  the press outside the court that said that his case was politically initiated and that he had forgiven his accusers, and they don’t intend to pursue any claim against either
“During my tenure as the Governor I was invited up to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York. How do they link me with terrorism ?”asked Sonko.
He went on to say that his two accused persons suffered because of his political affiliation and yet they were only workers for county government and not politicians.
He said that he wouldn’t like anybody to be associated with terrorism charges because of their political links.
They were charged with the offenses in 2021 where they denied all the charges.
In the first count Sonko was charged that on January 01,2021 at unknown place within the country jointly with others not before court knowingly recruited unknown persons to commit or participate in the commission of a terrorist act.
He also faced a second count which indicated that on January 31,2021 in Athi river, Machakos county had in his possession a military’s attire which was intended to facilitate or commit a terrorist act.
On his part Ouko was charged that on February 03,2021 at Komarock phase 2 within Nairobi has in his possession a millitary combat short of North Atlantic treaty organisation (NATO) and other millitary uniform which were intended to facilitate a terrorist act.
Odhiambo according to the charge sheet was on or before February 03,2021 at unknown place within the country found in possession of a military camouflage jacket which was meant to facilitate a terrorist act.
Kiage said that he released them under section 87A of the criminal procedure code (CPC) and that the accused persons cash bail which had been deposited by Sonko be returned to them.
The prosecution side said that they had withdrawn the case and that Sonko and his accused persons through their lawyer John Khaminwa won’t sue for damages.
