BURIAL DISPUTE

MERU FAMILY EMBROILED IN BURIAL DISPUTE TO WAIT LONGER AFTER ANOTHER STAY IS ISSUED BY COURT AFTER A JUDGEMENT.

Sarah Kathambi will have to wait longer before burying the remains of the late husband Silas Ingweta. Although the chief magistrates court at Milimani gave a ruling in paper in favour of Sarah Kathambi, the younger wife of the late Silas Ingweta to bury her husband, the first wife Grace Silas obtained a Stay for 14 Days thereby stopping any burial plans. Chief Magistrates G.M. Gitonga in a judgement beating the two families ruled that the late, having abandoned his wife Grace Silas 40 years ago to go and live with Sarah Kathambi and his second wife until his death, could not be buried by the first wife. He consequently ordered that the second wife who had lived with the deceased until his death had the right to bury his remains since she was the person close to the deceased until his demise.
