

Over 600 Kenyans stranded in Cambodia seek court intervention to compel the government to bring them back to the country
The applicants were lured under false pretence of employment in Thailand but instead trafficked to Cambodia where they are currently unlawfully detained
They say that their passports were confiscated rendering them undocumented and unable to secure their freedom of movement or seek assistance
They’re presently subjected to grave violation of their fundamental rights including physical assault, electrocution and sexual harassment
According to lawyer Danstan Omari one of the applicants has been stubbed 4 times in the stomach and is in critical condition within acces to any form of medical treatment pausing eminent threat to life
They’ve also been denied access to adequate food held in communicado pausing a danger to their physical and psychological wellbeing being
“They’re tortured and are given food once after three days ” he said
The lawyer added that the applicant faces life threatening deadline of February 28,2026 beyond which their safety cannot be guaranteed
He urged the court to issue an appropriate conservatory and mandatory orders compelling urgent diplomatic and rescue intervention to the applicants facing death permanent bodily harm and continued violation of their rights
“The reason why we have a ministry of foreign affairs is to help the Kenya’s who are in waiting in a foreign country”Omari said .
