University of Nairobi professor and two businessmen charged with personation
A Nairobi university professor is among three people charged with personation of officers from EACC.
Douglas Njoroge Kinyanjui, Peter Njoroge Mwaura and Francis Nding’uri Muhoho appeared before the Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Nanzushi where they were charged with three.
They are accused that on November 6, 2023 at Java House along Koinange street in Nairobi CBD within Nairobi county with intent to defraud, the three represented themselves to Meshak Otuke Mokaya as officers from Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission EACC.
Separately Peter Njoroge Mwaura faced other two charges of cyber harassment and obtaining registration by false pretences contrary with the law.
The court heard that on diverse dates between November 1 and 6, 2023 at unknown place within the republic of Kenya communicated to Geoffrey Omatoke Mosorio via a text message where he wanted to meet him claiming to solve a corruption scandal revealed against him.
Hefurther faced with another charge of obtaining registration by false pretences to section 320 of the penal code.
The prosecution told the court that Mwaura willfully procured an Airtel line number for himself by using an identity card of another person , the number was registered with the identity card of Damaris Wanja Wainaina and he falsely pretended the said subscriber number to be his.
Douglas Njoroge is a businessman and the director of Dinari water project which is located in Kijabe while Peter Njoroge is the founder of Community Based Organization CBO an organization which deals with advocacy of infectious deseases which is located in Lari.
Francis Nding’uri Muhoho is a professor at University of Nairobi and a health officer in Nairobi county.
They appeared before the Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Nanzushi and denied the charges.
They were released on bond of Sh 500,000 with a surety of the same amount each.
The matter will be mentioned on December 5, 2023 for pre trial.
