A Nairobi court has released a middle-aged man on bail after he denied defrauding a hotel of million of shillings.
Kelvin Obondo Odhiambo, also known as Hon. Nyalik Oselu,appeared before Principal Magistrate Rose Ndubi, where he was charged that between November 28, 2024, and March 3, 2025, at Gem Suites Hotel in Nairobi, Odhiambo incurred debts for accommodation services worth Sh3.12 million.
He is also accused of consuming alcoholic drinks, water, and foodstuffs valued at Sh2.413 million, bringing the total debt to Sh5.533 million.
Prosecutors allege that Odhiambo falsely represented that he was able to pay for the services, a fact he knew to be untrue.
Magistrate Ndubi relesead him on a bond of Sh1 million, with an alternative cash bail of Sh400,000.
The matter will be mentioned on November 19 for pre-trial proceedings.
