A section of Gatundu elders have asked the court to intervene and hear their matter expeditiously. The aged men and women from Gatundu North says that they are the rightful owners of a disputed land that measures over 5 hecatres adding that they bought the disputed land in 1958. They says that some of the members have died living behind their children to fight for disputed land. In supporting their case the elders say that former president Jomo Kenyatta was aware that they own the property . They are accusing Kiambu Cioffee Growers of illegally obtaining the land.
The dispute has been in court for over 30 years,
Court papers filed in court ,Kiambu Coffee Growers Co-operative claim that having possessed the suit property it has embarked on a process of leasing the land to a third party.
The co-operative is accusing the members of the New Kamwangi Gumba Company Limited who include the frail men and women of interfering of the possession of the property.
